Green Thumbs 2013

An event organized by LIAS and NParks’ Centre for Urban Greenery and Ecology (CUGE), Green Thumbs was started in 2006 to celebrate the development journey of the landscape industry. This year’s event was organized with the support and participation of organizations such as the Employment and Employability Institute (e2i), Institute of Technical Education (ITE), Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) and Workplace Safety and Health Council (WSHC).

 

A highlight of Green Thumbs is the Skills Championships. As in previous years, the Championships showcased various competencies of landscape workers, such as tree climbing, landscape design and implementation, and excavator operations. Over 150 workers participated in the 10 Skills Championships.

 

The event also featured a Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) forum, career fair, and floristry competition with some 100 participants.The event was graced by Mr Lim Swee Say, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and Secretary-General of the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC).
